Alive and celebrated throughout the country, this custom of Slav origin and, besides the assertion of fertility also bears an element of love and marriage. The lazaruvane is a string of ritual games and songs studied in advance by the young girls during the long Lent. The ritual versions are many. The common feature however, is the hope of young girls to be married.
